Frequently Asked Questions

Does everything I share actually stay confidential?

Yes. Confidentiality is one of —if not the— best parts of therapy. You can say/share anything and everything about yourself and your life and it will all remain between us. If I ever consult with a supervisor or colleague about a case, I will never share a client’s name or any other identifying details. This is an incredibly important component of the work.

The only exceptions to confidentiality are if I hear that you or someone close to you is in serious life-threatening danger. If you or someone you know has a plan to take your life, their life, or someone else’s life, is being threatened or is in serious danger, I may need to reach out to local medical personnel and authorities for additional support.

Please note that I do not offer emergency services. If you or someone you know is in crisis and seeking immediate support, please contact 112 for emergency support in Catalan, Spanish, French, and English.

In-person or virtual therapy sessions?

I do believe that in-person therapy sessions are typically more fruitful, effective, and enjoyable than virtual sessions. However, I also do understand that we are not always able to meet in person for various reasons, and we are fortunate to have wonderful online resources to make therapy accessible for anyone, anywhere. Therefore I do offer both in-person sessions (located in Barcelona, Spain) and online (Zoom) sessions with clients all over the world. When possible, we can also combine the two to allow for our sessions to be as convenient as possible.

How often will we meet?

I almost always recommend that we begin by meeting weekly, as consistency and regularity are necessary ingredients for building a strong relationship of trust, and for our work to move into deeper territory and be most impactful. At a certain point in our work we can explore transitioning to meeting every other week. I will always share my professional opinion, but we will make all of our decisions about your therapy process together as we go.

What if we are not the best fit?

The connection or therapeutic relationship between client and therapist is just about the most important component to successful therapy. During our first few sessions we will both be able to get to know one another, and as we begin our work together, we will each assess whether or not we are the right long term fit for successful therapy work. If you or I feel that we may not be the best fit, I will do what I can to refer you to another therapist or professional who may better suit your specific needs, for the best possible outcome.

Payments and cancellation policy

Payments are made in advance, when booking your next session. You can pay for sessions by making a direct deposit, using Wise (previously TransferWise), Bizum, or simply by cash.

I honor a standard 48 hour cancellation policy, which means that if you cancel ahead of time, I will give you a full refund, but if you cancel within 48 hours of the scheduled session I do charge the full fee.

Insurance and reimbursements

I am an out-of-network provider and therefore do not work with any insurance companies directly, however I am happy to provide invoices if you would like to try and receive reimbursements from your insurance. Unfortunately I cannot guarantee that you will be able to receive reimbursements for our sessions.

Do you prescribe medications?

No, I only practice Psychotherapy and do not prescribe medications. However, I do work with local Spanish and English Speaking Psychiatrists who I can connect you with, if you feel that medication may be a good addition to talk therapy.
